Life at Emmanuel
Fellowship
While worship is at the center, getting together and having fun are equally important aspects of life at Emmanuel. For example, every week, the congregation comes together in the Parish Hall after our worship services for an informal Coffee Hour, giving members of the congregation—of all ages—an opportunity to socialize and get to know each other. Other more formal opportunities for fellowship occur on a regular basis, too. Sometimes these events are tied to our worship life—the annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, for example—and sometimes they are just opportunities to relax and enjoy each other’s company—an elegant wine tasting with “Big Band” music or an outing to see a baseball game.
We have fun together.
Our weekly Coffee Hours are a well-loved tradition at Emmanuel. Over a cup of tea or coffee, while enjoying delicious baked goods provided by a weekly host or hostess, parishioners gather informally after worship services to “catch up,” inquire about someone who is sick or in the hospital, to discuss a committee assignment or upcoming women’s group meeting, to share information about community events or school activities, or to get to know a newcomer. Our Coffee Hour is sometimes truly an hour, as parishioners both young and old linger, clearly enjoying this social time with friends.
